Musings on a Wednesday Morning

Why can't my arbor look like this on hot summer days--chairs lined with snow?!

This & That - August 2016

The month of August was all about the trip we took from the 13th to the 23rd.  Gabriel had gotten pretty shaggy, but I was waiting to have his hair cut because he was going to be staying at Olivia's house for the 10 days we were away.  This way they wouldn't have to brush him everyday. . .

Out and About - March 2016

March 1st was the first of my 8 watercolor classes.  We spent it learning about the different ways to put the paint on the paper.  I was delighted to discover an old acquaintance I hadn't seen in 16 years was also attending. . .

Out and About - January 2016

January started off with my catching my husband's New Year's cold but I used the stay-in-bed time to look through all my collection of artists' journals to see which one I wanted to use to guide me through the year in my drawing challenge.  It soon became clear that Beatrix Potter's characters would be just what I needed.  You can read about that here. . . .

Out and About - August 2015

August has been all about getting ready for the Maryland Chapter of the Tasha Tudor Museum Society's Tasha Tudor 100th Birthday Celebration on the 28th.  Even my View Outside My Window post was about my plans for the upcoming celebration.

We've been needing a new roof put on the house so we scheduled it on the 10th to get that out of the way. . . .

Out and About - July 2015

We did a lot this month that I didn't photograph so I don't have much to show you.    But this is what I do have.....a visit to Brookside Gardens where we went in the Butterfly house. . . .

Out and About - May 2015

Our son, who had been in the hospital for two weeks, was released on the first day of May and is doing very well.  I have an abundance of Olivia June pictures since besides babysitting every week this month, we saw her on Mothers Day.  Here she is playing with Gabriel's treat ball, then offering it to him. . . .

Out and About - February 2015

February is a short month, but I think it's been the longest month on record for me.  It's the month of our youngest's birthday, our anniversary, and Valentine's Day.  I needed to have some dental work done, but that was all that was on our agenda.  The month started off quietly enough as I finished preparations for my Tasha Tudor gathering on the 5th.  We made Sparrow Post boxes and Valentines. . . . .

Out and About - September

September brought just as much Out as About.  We babysat Olivia every other Monday.  She has two teeth!  Reaches for everything.  Squeals in delight.  Can sit up with only a little support.  Move backwards in the walker.  And what I love most of all smiles with delight when she sees me ☺. . . .

Gabriel's Garden Tour

Hello!  I'm over here on the front stoop!  My name is Gabriel.  Fiona Goosefeathers over at Hopalong Hollow Gazette gave a tour of her Mistress's garden.  Mom thought that was a great idea so she decided since she's been so busy getting ready for her Tasha Tudor Tea she'd ask me to take you on a tour of our garden for her. . . .

Out and About - May

As I gathered my photos earlier this week in preparation for this post I discovered they were mostly about birds and babies.  Little did I realize I could add a third "b" before the end of the month....but I will tell you about that when I get there.  Meanwhile, I have to share this photo of a peacock on my drawing pad!  If you notice, hanging in the window is a stained-glass picture of a peacock.  It was as though it had jumped out of the frame onto the paper as the morning sun gave life to it....
I think my drawing pad is crying out to me that it needs to be fulfilled....

Out and About - April

The first nine days of April just dragged on, and on, and on as we awaited for little Olivia June's arrival.  In the meantime, we went shopping for plants and brought home eight Forsythia to plant along our property line....

Gabriel the Little White Dog

This is the story of how I came to be the Mum of a West Highland White Terrier named Gabriel....

In November 2007 it was clear that it was time to let my 13-year-old calico cat, Poetry, go.  She had a vaccine-associated scarcoma and could no longer get around on her own.  It was devastating to lose her so soon especially since I had written children's stories about her and a snowman named Gabriel....

Poetry and Gabriel were names Ken and I had chosen for our future children when we were dating.  We changed our minds by the time we had children 12 years later so the names were available for my characters.  Those stories can be found on Poetry's  website.

It took me awhile before I was ready to replace Poetry.  When I did, I realized I was at the point in my life, now that all my children were grown, that I needed a pet that was more cuddly than my various cats had been over the years.  So by the summer of 2008 I approached Ken about getting a dog.

♡ HEARTS ♡

         Story

's are my theme today.  I went around the house looking for all the hearts I could find.  It's amazing what one notices when one is on a quest.  In my case, it was mostly dust.  In fact, you will actually get to see some of this dust in the following photos.

I'm also using this post to practice using the free photo editor site I've been using to put frames around my photos.  This is the first time for me to use the collage feature. So, let's get started.

These are the hearts I found in my kitchen....

Out and About - November

We'd been saving our day trip on the back roads to Gettysburg until it was warm enough to put the top down on the Roadster.  The clouds were finally moving on out of the area....

A Foggy Morning

I don my slicker and garden shoes and head out of doors.....the slight mist does not put me off.  With camera in hand I want to capture the moody morning....
