The Bee Cottage Story

Have you read this book yet?

Frances Schultz writes for Veranda magazine and House Beautiful and has written several books, as well as hosting the cable show Southern Living Presents.  She also paints.  The book begins as a memoir.  I skimmed that part and went to the decorating part which includes decorating tips and lots of photos.  I soon started over at the beginning because I wanted to get to know more about Frances.  Her choice of house and decorating style told me a lot about who she was, and I wanted to get the facts about her life.  It's the same the other way around when it comes to people in my life.  I  have the facts about them, but I also need to see where they live so that when I think about them I can "see" them in their personal space.

This & That - May 2016

A little of This and a little of That this month!  For Mother's Day two of my sons sent me the same card!  It was the blank kind so they'd each written their own sentiment.  But that's not all that was serendipitous.  They say you tend to purchase gifts you would like.  Well, it worked for me.  The Lemon Verbena bath items were given to me by Ken.  I'd bought the same thing for one of our daughters-in-law unbeknownst to him. . . .

More Or Less - April 2016

This past weekend we were in Phoenix, AZ to attend a family wedding.  The next day Ken's brother and sister-in-law took us to the Desert Botanical Garden where we spent the day into the evening walking the paths or sitting in the shade.  There was lots in bloom which really put me in the mood to get into my garden.  Unfortunately, we came home to a freeze warning, so I will have to wait a few more weeks before I head for the garden center.

Summertime

The lazy, hazy days of Summer.....When I think of summer now I think of the wild Ox-eye Daisies* and new-born fawns that are in my gardens. . . .

Out and About - April 2015

April began quite normally, but you will soon learn why I chose this music this month.  We've started babysitting Olivia June every Wednesday.  Here is a collage of those visits. . . .

Out and About - March 2015

The month of March has been a mixture of Out and About.  I finished the painting on the 1st and was ready for the floor to be installed on the 2nd, but it turned out they weren't planning to come until the 4th.  It only took them one day to do the dining room.  Poetry immediately claimed it as her space. . . .

View Outside My Window - February

Good morning!  I almost forgot about doing this month's View Outside My Window post!  I spent all of yesterday afternoon at my art table working on my Country Diary painting, so I've decided to show you the view from my art table.  By doing this post first I'll have a little more time to work on my painting (which I'm not pleased with yet) before I have to show it in the Country Diary post.

The sun is just beginning to appear between the bare trees above the cliffs (the dark area above the snow line) . . . .

Out and About - September

September brought just as much Out as About.  We babysat Olivia every other Monday.  She has two teeth!  Reaches for everything.  Squeals in delight.  Can sit up with only a little support.  Move backwards in the walker.  And what I love most of all smiles with delight when she sees me ☺. . . .
