An Autumn Vacation Without Fall Foliage

My Autumn Vacation Without Fall Foliage was also without my good camera (the lens had been sent away for repair AGAIN) so I did not look forward to this 3-day get-away with my usual anticipation.  I was able to resign myself to not having my camera because there were no colorful leaves to take photos of anyway.  SO I'm asking you to imagine colorful leaves on the mountainside, better picture exposure, and more depth of field as you peruse my photos of Jim Thorpe, PA and Bushkill Falls.

After driving 50 minutes to drop Gabriel off at our son's house we drove another 3½ hours to Jim Thorpe, PA, where we were staying at the Times House B&B.  This red brick house was actually two houses when it was built circa 1870.  From 1927 to 1967 it housed the Times-News.  You can read about the present owner's story of how they came to turn it into a B&B in 2009 HERE.  The B&B sits high above the rest of the town on Race Street nestled into the side of Flagstaff Mountain along with St. Mark & John Episcopal Church on the left and a row of shops on the right. . . .

More or Less - August 2016

After an extremely hot and humid July, with more of the same predicted for August, I find myself wanting less of summer and more of winter. . . .

Out and About - September

September brought just as much Out as About.  We babysat Olivia every other Monday.  She has two teeth!  Reaches for everything.  Squeals in delight.  Can sit up with only a little support.  Move backwards in the walker.  And what I love most of all smiles with delight when she sees me ☺. . . .

Out and About - June

June has just whizzed by for me.  It began with sleeping bunnies in the garden....

First Day of Spring

This is what it looked like outside my window as I took down my Winter decor and put up the Spring decor this past Monday....

It was St. Patrick's Day and I decided I was done with Winter even if the weather wasn't!  I had my own evidence from the planter I overwintered in the window that Spring was here ....coleus, petunias, and verbena were blooming....

Getting Ready for Christmas

Getting ready for Christmas in our family starts with going to a Christmas Tree farm and cutting down our tree.   We started this tradition with our first Christmas in 1969 when it was just the two of us and continued it with our three boys.  Now we are back to just the two of us and I finally get to choose which one we get.   We found the only farm, I think, which offers Hemlocks.  I fell in love with them because they look so delicate....

Changing Seasons - Autumn

It's beginning to look a lot like Autumn here....at least on the inside.  To celebrate the return of Autumn I'm posting a few photos of this year's Autumn decor along with links to last year's posts about Autumn.  It is too soon here in our part of the country for leaves to be changing but there's a nip in the air promising Autumn leaves will soon start to appear.  In the meantime, I've taken down the summer decor and have once again put up my red curtains along with Harry Richardson's Autumn print of his grandmother's house....
