This ↗ is where my thoughts have been of late--far and away--as I contemplate the view outside my kitchen window....
You see, we're awaiting the birth of our first grandchild--a daughter for our oldest son. I'm even dreaming about her, and my thoughts about her impending birth have carried me past exits I should have taken while out driving. I may need to let Ken do all the driving for a while me thinks.
Every time the phone rings I wonder if this is the call....but so far it's only been telemarketers and the like--sometimes three in an afternoon. One day the phone rang at 7:30 a.m.! But it was only the guy we hired to clean up our woods calling to see if we still had snow on the ground before he sent his workmen out. Don't these people know I'm awaiting a very important call?!
I had a 30% off coupon PLUS a $10 cash coupon at Kohl's that was about to expire so we stopped there this week to spend it. I found a darling outfit on sale for this little girl (I daren't say what it is yet since I want it to be a surprise), and with the discounts I did not feel guilty at all purchasing yet another outfit.
I sent my son an e-mail the morning after my dream. I told him I'd awakened twice the night before from dreams about the baby and that she looked like his father-in-law. He read my e-mail to the mother-to-be while she was hooked up to the fetal monitor at her last appointment. It made her laugh so much it looked as though she was having contractions. I told him now he knows how to get labor started before they decide to induce it--just photoshop his father-in-law's head onto a baby and show it to her now and again. Who knows. Maybe I've discovered a new birthing technique! I'll let you know if it works.
Last Fall we bought a low-to-the-ground cement bench for this little one to sit on when she takes walks in the woods with us. It is held up on either end by gnomes. I saw another one I want to get as soon as Meadow Farms puts their statuary on sale. It's a toadstool with a little gnome hiding underneath. I hope she likes gnomes. Her father was afraid of clowns when he was little.
This leads me to my question this month. Is there something preoccupying your thoughts lately?
Still not much happening in the Arbor garden yet--a few of the daffodils are in bloom along with the crocus, and the pansies I planted in the window box. Can you see the temperature? It was snowing last Sunday. Today it was 70 degrees!....
