Thank you, Deb. We did! We went browsing an antique emporium for Made in England dishes. One cup and saucer were $24! No thank you! Then out to dinner in historic Leesburg, VA on the way to Dulles airport to pick up our son and two of his four friends who were returning from a week in Iceland. It was 14 degrees here--colder than Iceland was when they left. Our water pipes are frozen this morning.
Happy Anniversary!!! I do hope your pipes thaw...It's a breezy 65 degrees here on the coast. Wish I could send some of our warmth to all of you guys up there. Off to celebrate my daughter's 21st b'day and a little Mardi Gras...Laissez les bon temps rouler! ~ Donna E.
Thank you, Donna. We've had this happen before and feel confident now that we're warming up the pipes everything will thaw pretty soon. Which coast are you on? Have fun celebrating.
Oh Goodness Cathy---sorry to hear about the frozen pipes! I do hope they are all thawed now. A lot of damage can occur when that happens. Happy Anniversary to you and your sweetheart! It's wonderful to know about couples that have long marriages! Congratulations! You are blessed! ♥
It turns out the pipes weren't frozen--it was the well pump. Ken is down in our pit well right now (about 15 feet below ground) installing a new one. So glad it waited a day to break! But now the snow has started falling and I don't know how much longer he's going to be down there.
No, he needs more parts and with the snow and rush hour I convinced him to come in for supper and wait till morning. He said it WAS warm down there. He had his winter jumpsuit on that he wears to plow in and he said he was too hot. It's 14 degrees here!
So sorry I'm late with this. Got the e-mail that there was a new post here at MM, which I always save until after I've cleaned out all the junk in my Inbox - and the [very dew] things I actually have to do something with. Saving the best for last, dontcha know!! Then I accidentally deleted the MM e-mail as well. Didn't remember until today. ANYWAY.... a very Happy Anniversary to you both Cathy! Be happy and celebrate - it is certainly no small feat to stay happily-married in this day and age for so long a time. Not that it ever was... LOL. So congratulations and enjoy your very happy day! xoxo :>)
We have a lot - more than usual for sure - but still far less than Boston. Less than Buffalo & Syracuse too. No matter how bad the storm, Rochester almost always gets less than Buffalo & Syracuse. They usually get pounded. We're smack in the middle of the two of them, and this must be - for some reason - the Sweet Spot because they always get more than we do. But I still can't WAIT for Spring! Tired of white - want some GREEN!
Thank you, Linnie. The water is running, but the pressure is too low. We're having a plumber come look at it next week. They're too busy this week fixing people's burst pipes!
Happy Anniversary! You must have gotten married around Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteYes, it was the day after because Valentine's Day that year was on a Friday and no one from out of town could have come (which was everybody).
DeleteHappy Anniversary! Hoping you had a wonderful day of celebrations ~~~Deb

DeleteOh my--I hope it is all finished now and he back inside where it is warm! I guess it is warmer down 15 feet, but still that's hard work! Take care. ♥

ReplyDeleteThank you Janet. How much snow do you have up your way? I can't imagine what Bostonians and the surrounding areas are having to deal with.

DeleteJanet, I'm glad to hear you haven't been inundated like Boston!
