~~~~~~~
Autumn has arrived this week in our little bit of woods....
When seasons change I find myself thinking about the changes in my life....
Looking back through the years I can see certain periods....
Times of waiting.....
Times of growing....
Times of surviving....
Times of creativity....
Times of happiness....
Times of discontent....
Times of confusion....
Times of rest....
In each period I often struggled with feeling burdened with getting life right....
"Vanity of vanities," says the Preacher, "Vanity of vanities! All is vanity."
- Ecclesiastes 1:2
Yet, how can one look at nature, the changing seasons, and not see the Hand of God in all....
I have many reminders of the times of my life....
The years have come and gone....
What should I make of them?
Will they have produced anything lasting? Will they have mattered?
"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven..."
- Ecclesiastes 3:1
Beautiful and melancholy as well, Cathy. The older I get the more I realize this precious gift of life is fleeting. Its ups and down are part of each of us. When I was younger I always thought that everything should be perfect--boy was that incorrect. Yes, "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven". ♥
ReplyDeleteBy the time we gain the wisdom that living a long time grants us, it seems we don't have enough time or energy left to benefit from it....and the younger generation isn't very interested in hearing what we have to say!
DeleteWhat a lovely post you have shared today. I couldn't have said it better. But, I embrace getting older at the same time, I still don't like changes. Your Autumn photos are beautiful. Enjoy your day dear Cathy. Pat 🍂🍁
ReplyDeleteThank you, Pat! I'm grateful that I am able to enjoy my older years, but some changes take a bit more getting used to for me.
DeleteLoved your message. I agree that with age comes wisdom. It is up to us to act on the wisdom we've learned. I too fear for this generation. Too much hate instead of love in our World right now. Every day should be a National Day Of Prayer.
ReplyDeleteYou have to admit, though, our generation is spewing a lot of hate right now, too. I can only think that anyone who hates is fear-based, which is sad. They can't possibly be enjoying life.
DeleteThought provoking post, making me think and reflect on my own life and some of the choices made.
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting me know that my post was meaningful to you. ❤️
DeleteA beautiful post and your autumn images are wonderful too! Sarah x
DeleteDear Cathy what a truly lovely post of sharing. Your autumn woods is beautiful. Don't each of us wish we had experienced more wisdom when we were younger. God is good though because what we have learned on this journey in life will help us to finish our race strong. Blessings friend.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that, Debbie! ❤️
