Autumn Leaves

Since we still do not have much Autumn color in our part of Maryland I've compiled my favorite photos of past years's foliage from our yard and Autumn vacations.   Be sure to enlarge to full screen (by clicking the square in the lower right corner).  Sit back and enjoy the music I've chosen for you and together we'll make our own Autumn Leaves. . . .

  1. Nothing much here either, everything ripped away or burned in the salt laden winds of three October storms. Still, thankful you {and I} have libraries of our work to draw on and remember. Beautiful music to accompany and compliment your magical Autumn images.

    1. So glad to hear you enjoyed my little slideshow. I just got back from doing errands and saw several trees have changed color along my route. It's as though my slideshow has challenged them to match the glory of former Autumns! πŸπŸ‚

    1. I'm sorry to hear that. Is it because it is milder there than the rest of England? You must schedule an Autumn vacation further north so you can enjoy the colors. I can never get enough of them. Yes, that was Gabriel sniffing about. πŸπŸ‚

    1. Thank you, Dotsie. I thought the last leaf hanging on despite the snow was fitting because it expresses how I feel when Autumn leaves. πŸ‚πŸ

  6. Oh Cathy, this was a lovely respite from the day! Perfect music choice for the slow-paced photos too. Your more colorful Autumn here is definitely helping to make up for the dearth of color here. I think Fall is less vivid everywhere this year, & personally I think global warming's to blame [Summer was warmer & wetter than normal]. We haven't really had any kind of hard frost yet so that probably helps to account for the less-than-striking colors too. Since I retired I've been out and about every single day in October each year - just to drive around & soak up the Autumn most days - and this is the dullest I can remember [though this is only the 5th year]. October is probably the ONLY month where I leave the house every day. In the Winter of course, this is the place to STAY. And even in the Spring & Summer I do have days when I stay home with whatever going on. But October, NOPE! I've always made it a point to go out every day in October, just for the sheer beauty of it. But this year has just not quite cut it. YET. I'm still hoping. The year my Mom died we had a particularly Indian-Summery Fall and there were still trees in my neighborhood with bright yellow leaves on Thanksgiving!! I chalked some of that up to Mom of course - she loved the Fall too & always said she'd wished it was longer. So maybe she had a little something to do with it that year - who knows? Thanks again for this sublimely-peaceful post. Very very pretty too. 🍁 πŸ‚

    1. Thank you, Janet. I wanted it to be just that--a respite--peaceful. Now you know where to go every day until your Autumn shows up your way. 🍁 πŸ‚ And, yes, I agree that your Mom probably had something to do with the extended Autumn that year. ❤️

  7. How perfectly gorgeous! And the music, had a wild, forested feel about it. What is the name of that piece and the composer? Absolutely perfect for this grey mizzly fall day! Thank you so much for sharing with me, as I fight my first winter cold. This was the perfect medicine, along with chicken soup and herbal tea:)

    1. Thank you, Erin. If you click on the YouTube icon it will take you there where I have the music listed in the description. It's by a group called Secret Garden. I hope you feel better soon! 🍁 πŸ‚❤️

  8. That was lovely. Haunting music and Autumns finest last hurrah. I've been in Maryland at this time of year, and it is much like our fall in regard to the colors and beauty.

    1. So glad you enjoyed it. We are just now getting full color everywhere--at least on the trees that still have leaves.
