Scenes from Playa del Carmen

Our last two days in Mexico were spent in Playa del Carmen, just an hour south of Cancun where we'd need to catch a late-morning flight home.  Our small hotel was just 7 blocks from the beach so we walked down the first evening and again the next morning hoping to catch the sunrise.  We missed it by about 15 minutes, but it was still a lovely time to walk along the shore before the crowds.  I've collected a few scenes to share. . . .

Thank you for coming along with me on my Mexico adventure!  Be sure to check out my Take Joy Society post where I share more of my experiences in Mexico.

    1. Water in motion always does that for me, too. There was many beautiful things to feast one's eyes on in Mexico!

  2. Not gonna cheat. I'm going to bypass Google Translate & GUESS that "playa" means "beach" in Spanish? Please do lots more "travelog" posts, Cathy. I have a feeling you could even make a trip down the cellar stairs educational! Great video and music too - so soothing. You know, I have 3 complete CDs of nature sounds that I love - rain, thunder and wind. And now I guess I'll have to get a surf & beach one too. So restful & restorative. A non-toxic medication made up entirely of sound! Have a great weekend - hope you're having excellent leaf-peeping weather in Maryland! 🍁

    1. Yes, it does! I have to laugh at your suggestion that I could do a travelogue down my cellar stairs because you're probably right. I have shelves on one side filled with all sorts of stuff that I could talk about! 😃 I've played that song so many times now I can hear it in my head right now. My tinnitus substitutes for the surf. Only Dogwoods have changed color down our way. We're going up to western PA soon and hope we see some color there. The color change seems awfully late this year.

    2. Yes, the color's coming slowly here too. A long time ago I read that certain weather conditions in the Summer determine whether the Fall color will be brilliant or duller. Can't remember which it was though. Maybe a wet Summer makes for dull Fall? I'll have to Google it & see if I can find out. PS - I have tinnitus too! How about that? For a while it was pretty persistent but in the last year or so, it's been much more infrequent. Not too bad at all. Hope yours is the same...

    3. I can usually ignore my tinnitus, but during allergy season it seems to get louder! I think the leaves can't start turning color until there's been a couple cold nights. I don't want to know the reason for how colorful the leaves will be because I want to HOPE that they WILL be this year!
